A global construction firm is currently seeking a Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) to support their Army Corp of Engineers projects. Thess projects consist of diverting water flow, demolition of an existing structure, heavy earthwork, steel erection, underground piping, and concrete pours.
The SSHO will be responsible for maintaining a safe work environment. They are responsible for ensuring all OSHA and EM 385 guidelines are being followed on the project. The SSHO will communicate with the Project Manager, subcontractors, and the Army Corp, as it relates to health and safety.
-Qualified Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years experience as a Safety Professional
-Candidates must have worked on large civil or earthwork project in the last 5 years (project must have included most of the following: Crane activity, Coffer Dams, Excavation, Concrete, Reinforcing Steel, Water control structures is a plus, Army Corp is a plus)
-Must have excellent computer skills
-Excellent verbal & written communication skills required
-USACE experience or similar government experience is highly preferred.
-Must have the ability to read and interpret construction specifications and blueprints.
-Must have strong working knowledge of construction trades means, methods, equipment and tools.
-Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner, in diversified situations is required.
– Must have a valid state driver's license.
-OSHA 30 hour required (OSHA 500 is a plus)
-Must have a working knowledge of Safety and Health Requirements Manual EM 385 (Army Corp of NAVFAC)
– Must have 8 hours Continued Education each year for past 4 years.
-Must be a competent person in the following, based on knowledge, experience, and training:
*Excavation & Trenching
*Hazardous Energy Control, (LOTO)
***Or OSHA 500
