Our client is looking to find a highly self-driven, motivated sale rep for the Philadelphia area.
Job Summary: The Sales Rep will be responsible for bringing in new prospective business. This individual develops a wide range of scrap metal suppliers ranging from industrial accounts, construction/demolition companies, facilities, and/or other sources from a wide assortment of origins. This position involves daily travel and face to face meetings with prospective clients as well as time allocated to office for phone calls and paperwork.
Reporting Structure: Reports to the National Director of Business Development
Primary Requirements:

  • Understands a wide range of metal recycling services, commodity markets, and SWOT's pertaining to the company's industry / activities
  • Builds a related network that can be leveraged for expertise, guidance, and opportunity
  • Delivers the company value proposition to potential clients and work to convert into long-term customers
  • Creates and maintains a system that delivers extraordinary service on a regular basis
  • Builds relationships by participating in trade associations, industry organizations and networking events

Summary of Job Responsibilities:

  • Executes the following customer service variables: timely transportation, information reporting, research, and customer payables
  • Developing and achieving an area prospecting plan, accomplishing monthly or yearly targets
  • Responsible for cultivating own sales and maintaining a weekly sales metrics
  • Builds and maintains customer relationships
  • Obtains new business in markets through face to face interaction
  • Utilizes cold calling and door knocking techniques
  • Distributes marketing material and participates in special sale events
  • Up-sells current & new customers
  • Attends mandatory sales meetings and training sessions
  • Reports sales statistics accurately and promptly to management
  • Assists with training and mentoring of new hires
  • Executes New Business Development and retains current accounts within territory
  • Demonstrates consistent execution of the Sales and Marketing Plan
  • Maintains constant improvement and positive growth while achieving targeted levels of profitability within overall account base
  • Develops long-term relationships and short-term sales strategies that are consistent with the corporate vision
  • Engages in training, support, feedback and positive reinforcement / interactions with other Sales Team members
  • Operates with integrity while upholding ethical standards of the organization
  • Engages in aggressive cold-calling, event attendance, and networking to source potential customers
  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal negotiating skills
  • Develops intuition towards Target Markets (Manufacturing, Metal Service Centers, Demo/Contractors, Facility, Scrap Recyclers, Utility, and Obsolete/Repair)
  • Responds to inquiries regarding the scope of our services and capabilities
  • Views material and generates a corresponding quotation.
  • Initiates diplomacy with perspective suppliers
  • Accesses bid lists & new opportunities
  • Understands the market threats posed by our competitors
  • Finds profitable niche markets
  • Demonstrates competency in all aspects of the job and company objectives
  • Demonstrate understanding of company policies, rules and trainings
  • Other duties as assigned

Desired Characteristics:

  • BA or BS from a four year college
  • Proven track record and direct sales experience
  • Ability to identify, filter, and aggressively pursue potential suppliers.
  • The Company desires a candidate who has shown a stable job history, dependable attendance practices and whose references can state is a trustworthy individual.
  • Candidate must pass a pre-employment physical, background and credit check.
  • Able to fulfill flexible scheduling requirements as determined by the manager and / or business needs of the operation; must be able to attend charity / networking / customer events after normal business hours
